Couples got married in Star Trek-themed wedding ceremonies held at the Moore Justice Center in Viera and the Brevard County Courthouse in Melbourne. The events, held on the date the original Star Trek television show premiered, were organized by Brevard County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller Rachel Sadoff. The ceremonies featured Star Trek-themed decorations, including a “Star Trek” star fleet insignia light display and depictions of planets hanging from the ceiling. The couple who married in Melbourne were dressed as Capt. Jean-Luc Picard and Lt. Nyota Uhura.
