Texas has acquired a 650-acre lakeside ranch near Lake Palestine for $10 million to become the state’s 90th park. The ranch, which is roughly 100 miles southeast of Dallas, includes wooded and pastureland areas, as well as a pecan orchard and access to the lake. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation made the purchase, which will be converted into a state park with amenities like hike-and-bike trails, campsites, and lakefront access. The park is expected to open in phases starting in late 2027.
