A new report by Senator Raphael Warnock finds that the SAVE Act would require married American women to pay up to $75 in fees to register or update their voter registration. The report, which focuses on eight Georgia counties, found that women who do not have their birth and marriage certificates readily available could wait over 3 months to receive required identification materials. The proposed bill would disproportionately affect married women who have changed their last names, requiring them to present these documents to meet voter verification requirements. This would disenfranchise millions of married women nationwide.
