Couples are looking for ways to cut costs on their big day, and one expense they’re willing to trim is the wedding cake. A survey by Zola found that about a third of couples consider spending less on cake and dessert. Instead of hiring a specialty baker, some couples are opting for store-bought cakes from chains like Publix, which can cost significantly less - around $388 for a chocolate cake serving 94 people. The average wedding cake costs around $5.50 per slice, but a Publix cake can be had for $1.50 less.
